Arbela was born in Costilla, New Mexico, on April 22, 1926. She was married to her husband Anselmo for more than 55 years, raised 7 children, devoting herself to raising her children first in the San Luis Valley and later in Silverton, Colorado. After raising her own family, Arbela worked as a day care provider in Commerce City, raising yet another generation of children who would learn the values she instilled in her own children: the importance of hard work, respect for and tolerance of others, forgiveness, kindness, and love for one another.
Arbela's compassion knew no limits. To most people she appeared to be shy - but to know her was to love her. She listened attentively, spoke softly, taught life's lessons effectively, and had an unshakable faith in God. Our lives were enriched by her presence and grace.
