Chad Tellinger

October 13, 1973 – May 20, 2026
Obituary of Chad Tellinger
IN THE CARE OF

Olinger Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery - Highland

Chad Tellinger, age 52, passed away on May 20, 2026. Chad was born on October 13, 1973, in Denver, Colorado and dedicated his life to keeping his beloved state safe.

Chad’s devotion to his family was unmatched. At the age of 21, he met Tracy, and after three years together they were married. Together, they filled their lives with unforgettable experiences, concerts, sporting events, and travel (near and far). They were always in search of fun and they always had a way of finding it. As their family grew, their sense of adventure never faltered. Chad’s daughters, Brooke and Brinley, were his entire world. He cherished being a father, and they adored him in return.

Chad realized at a young age his true calling was serving others. He pursued a career in public service by becoming an EMT. After some time, Chad began working for the North Metro Fire Rescue District in 1998 as a firefighter. Later earning the ranks of Engineer and Lieutenant. He was a dedicated union leader for over 25 years, committed to serving both his community and his fellow brothers and sisters in the fire service.

Friends would describe Chad as being patiently clever. His sense of humor ranged from silly to sophisticated, and it was always well delivered and well-timed. He was a fiercely loyal friend and the ultimate prankster. Chad had a charismatic smile and a huge heart. He lived life to the fullest and embraced every adventure that came his way with a sense of humor. He will be remembered for being loving, caring, and kind.

In his free time, Chad loved traveling, golfing, camping, and watching sports — especially the Yankees, Broncos, and Avalanche. He loved working outside, always finding something to fix or improve, even though his yard was always picture-perfect.

Chad is survived by his wife, Tracy; his daughters, Brooke and Brinley; his mother, Karen; and his sisters Julie and Anna. He was preceded in death by his father, Emil.

Tracy, Brooke, and Brinley would like to personally thank the North Metro Fire Rescue District family for their constant love and support during this difficult time. Especially Josh Hamilton, who was more than just a former coworker of Chad's, but truly a brother and close personal friend; Mike Eason, who has been a great source of knowledge and support from the beginning; and the Local 2203 who have proven that family isn't always blood, it's the people in life who want you in theirs. They have shown up and been there when they were needed most, and his family will be forever grateful for that.

Chad will be loved and missed; he will live in our hearts forever.

While the family appreciates the outpour of support from the public, a private family service will be held to honor Chad's memory.

In lieu of flowers, Chad's family asks that donations be made to things close to his heart. As an avid outdoorsman protecting our national parks was so important to Chad. Donations can be made to the National Parks Foundation. Also, as a career firefighter and native Coloradan providing aid and support to professional fire fighters and their families was something Chad was passionate about. Donations to support that cause can be made to the Colorado Professional Firefighter Foundation.
