Obituary
Charles J. "Chuck" Crouse peacefully passed away on February 24, 2017, at Avamere Care Center in Brighton, Colorado, with family by his side.
Chuck was born on the homestead in Chugwater, Wyoming, on June 1, 1926 to Charles F. and Katie Mitchell Crouse, the youngest of five children.
Chuck's family later moved to Boone, Iowa, where he met the love of his life, Carol Lou Hicks. Chuck knew Carol was "the one", the moment he saw her; and the high school sweethearts were married April 12, 1946. They celebrated their 68th anniversary in 2014, before Carol passed away.
In 1956, Chuck and Carol adopted daughter Joni Lynn, and son Timothy John in 1961.
Chuck and Carol were long-time residents of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and were members of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Throughout his life, Chuck loved baseball, playing as a young man and then coaching his son Tim's Little League team. His favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs and the Colorado Rockies.
Chuck's dream was to own a candy store, and he realized that dream as a young man, when he established Chuck's Caramel Kitchen in Cheyenne, Wyoming. There he made his signature fudge and many other wonderful treats throughout his life. Christmas was a special time for everyone, with Chuck and Carol's many delicious cookies and candies.
Chuck also worked for Powers Builder's Supply in Cheyenne, and then moved on to manage Sidney Ideal Stone in Sidney, Nebraska, and Western Concrete Products in Laramie, Wyoming.
Chuck left the concrete industry to work as an accountant for the University of Wyoming until he retired.
Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol; brothers George and Lawrence; and sisters Emma and Lucille. He is survived by daughter Joni Duran and son Tim (Janet) Crouse. Grandchildren Amber (Becca) Mendoza, Priscilla Woodword, Jennifer Kelley (Carlos Martinez); Shad Crouse; Brandi (Sean) Keylor; Heather Crouse; Jennifer Munoz; Rebecca Haas; and Cassie Cox; as well as thirteen great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to St Johns Lutheran Church, or the American Humane Society.
