Well Cory I'm standing in a long line at Cabelas outdoor store on black Friday.  There are pictures of mountains and displays of wildlife. Dear Cory, this is the last of the "firsts" to get thru and may be the hardest one yet. Many others have followed you to heavan: Great-grandma P., Aunt Ellie, Furrball, and Kevin.  Perhaps it won't seem so lonely now.  As we gather together to remember you, pehaps you will hear laughing, funny stories, lots of memories, and many many tears. Yes, there will be many tears shed today as there have been every day. We have been told that each tear is a memory so your heart may swell with love, as we celebrate your life and hope you can feel the love in our hearts for you.  Coping with your loss is ultimately a deeply personal and singular experience-for you mom, dad, Justin and Taylor especially-have relied and leaned on each other and can only understand the depth of emotions each is experiencing. We have come to be here for them and for you and to bring a small amount of comfort to help thru the process of today. The best we can do is to allow ourselves to feel the pain and grief as it comes because resisting it will only prolong the natural process of healing. We know that grief is an ongoing process and not a one-time event.  "God hath not promised sun without rain, joy without sorrow, peace without pain". Hi Cory, 2013 is coming to an end with hopes that 2014 may bring your family some peace and contentment.  I can remember picking out some of those games for your Nintendo games or playstation that Justin mentioned.  I always had to pick out the best for you so that you would think I was "the coolest aunt".  A song that I heard today was "Angels we have heard on high" and it reminded me that you will be smiling down on all of us today, maybe even crying with us as we remember you. We were eating smothered burritos the other night and Brandon said the only thing missing was Cory.  He remembers how you and Mike always showed up when we made smothered burritos. Happy birthday brother.  Today is a day to remember all the good times.  A day to smile big and bright like you used too, and I'm sure you are now.  You shaped our lives in so many ways, and will continue too forever.

Cory, I can remember the day you were born at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, OR. I sat in the waiting room with your dad, he was so nervous. You had quite the set of lungs on you and I'm sure we heard you screaming from the operating room!!! I have so many memories of babysitting you, taking you on walks in the stroller to have lunch with your mom, and feeding you fudge bars. I loved visiting Denver to see if I could make you laugh because you just never wanted me to see you smile. You were a man of few words, "yep", "nope" and "maybe" were about all you'd ever say to me.  It made me work harder to get you to say a sentence. And of course I just knew I was "your favorite aunt". As the years went by I wish we could have seen each other more frequently.  We think we have all the time in the world to see each other, but sometimes circumstances prevent that from happening. My hope is that you are now finding some peace in your soul. I will always miss you Cory, and I certainly will never forget about you and the fun you brought to all of our encounters. Cory, I will always remember those fun times and great jokes you had for everyone!! I especially remember all the good times you, me and Becky had at our family get togethers and how you were so funny. You are deeply missed and I will always remember those great times up at cove as well. Miss you so very much my cousin and friend!!

Cory and I had many good times and he always made me laugh. I remember at Grandma and Grandpa's 50th anniversary Cory was chasing me and Melissa around getting us in to trouble. We would stay up late every night, when I was visiting, just watching movies and talking. At Justin's wedding we had so much fun dancing and making up our own, horrible dance moves. I'll always look back on those times I spent with Cory and remember what a great person and friend he was. I pray that your family finds peace and comfort knowing he is now resting with God.

Cory was the one who gave me the name Aunt Cakky because he could not say Cathy.  That nickname has stuck with me to this day.  He told his Uncle Mike that he was going to own his own motorsysle one day when he got big. At Justin and Jackies wedding, Cory introduced us to his own style of dance with his cousin Becky that we fondly named "the Cory".  These are memories that are both endearing and entertaining for us.  It is both an honor and a privilege to call Cory my nephew.  May your family find strength and comfort knowing that you are resting peacefully in God's loving arms.  Aunt Cathy and Uncle Mike (Gresham, OR)
