David John Luensmann

David John Luensmann of Denver, Colorado passed away on December 11, 2021. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, uncle, and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born on May 14, 1934 in Dyersville, Iowa to John and Marcella Luensmann.

David married Kathleen McElmeel on September 3, 1956 at Saint Francis Xavier in Dyersville, Iowa, and they were married for 62 blissful years. He spent some time in the Army before departing to work with Lange Ski Company as head of production. He was extremely devoted to his wife and children and showed them the meaning of a strong work ethic. In his free time, he loved woodworking and remodeling to relax and could never say no to a Chick-fil-A sandwich and a Cherry Coke.

David is survived by his children Nancy Luensmann , Jack Luensmann (Lyn Luensmann), Jim Luensmann , and Steve Luensmann; Sister, Margie McDermont; Brother-in-laws, John O'Brien and Tony Broghammer; Sister-in-laws Susan Luensmann, Bernardine Thielen, and Patricia Dougherty, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen, in 2018; his parents and parents and law; Sisters Lila Mae Luensmann, Irene O'Brien, Delrose Broghammer, Mary Luensmann; Brother Robert Luensmann and In-laws Lynell McElmeel, James and Donna Shaffer, and Gene Thielen.

Public visitation for David will be held at Olinger Highland Mortuary,10201 North Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229, on Monday, December 20th from 5 to 7 p.m. Service mass will be held at Saint Mark Catholic Church, 3141 W 96th Ave, Westminster, CO 80031, on Tuesday, December 21st at 10 a.m. with a burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery 6739 South Boulder Rd. Boulder Colorado 80303
