Donald “Donnie” Anton Seeley, 61 of Thornton Colorado, passed away December 22, 2024. Donnie passed after a long struggle with cancer that he gave every effort to overcome. Throughout the last couple of years, despite every obstacle that Donnie faced, he pushed through every day for his family.
Donnie was born on December 15, 1963, to Donald Seeley and Diana Olson in Orange County, California. After high school, Donnie enlisted in the military and joined the Army’s Artillery division for the next 10 years. While he was stationed in Panama, he met his first wife, Josefina. They were married for 7 years and had 2 children, Susan and Jason. Although Donnie and Josefina separated, they remained good friends and ultimately prioritized their children’s wellbeing, along with time spent together as a family.
After 10 years of service, Donnie was honorably discharged from the military. In 1990, he met the love of his life, Sheri, in California and they moved to Colorado shortly after. They got married in 1995 and started their family together. Donnie and Sheri have 3 children; Jared (predeceased), DJ and Savannah.
Donnie joined the trades to become a licensed electrician becoming a member of IBEW 68, joining the electrical union where he worked for local electrical contracting companies that contracted with the University of Colorado Boulder. Donnie eventually started full-time at the university and worked as an electrician and then eventually become an LTC2, holding that title for 21 years. He was employed for 24 years at the University and would have retired in June. Donnie’s staff and coworkers all knew him to be a dedicated and hardworking man. He was very respectable and honored among all departments across campus. It is safe to say that he touched the hearts of everyone that worked with him on campus.
On his free time, he loved to go watch Nascar races, fishing, camping and road trips with his family. Anyone that knew him, knew that he could make some mean BBQ and would enjoy time outside with his smoker. He was a devoted husband and father. Donnie also held the title of being a grandpa and great grandpa, which was a very proud role for him. He loved his grandchildren dearly and would talk about them every chance he could. He always put others first and wanted nothing more than to see smiles and joy to those around him. Don’s roaring laughter alone could put a smile on any one’s face. His optimism and determination to help and guide others was inspiring. He was a man of few words, but he loved deeply. He kept his spark, even throughout the most challenging times, and he will be remembered for his never-ending strength and the unconditional love that he had for those close to him.
Donnie was preceded in death by his mother and stepdad, Diane Olson Forsberg and Donald “Rex” Forsberg; his brother, Martin Seeley; his sister, Brenda (Jim) Hoskins; his stepbrother, Bryan Forsberg; and his son, Jared.
He is survived by his father, Don Seeley; his wife, Sheri Seeley; his children, Susan (Clarence) Terrell, DJ Seeley, Savannah Seeley, and Jason Hammel; his grand-children, Kayla Seeley, Kilah Seeley, Julisa Satcher, and Maranda Hammel; his great-grandchild, Adonis Williamson; his sister, Jessica (Shawn) Jeffords; his brother, Joshua Foster; his sister-in-law, Brenda Forsberg; along with many nieces and nephews.
