Etta Mae Kahler was born to German immigrants Gustav and Adeline. Etta was married to Orville Delany, in 1947, and had 5 children together. They lived in various areas including South Dakota, Illinois and Oregon but settled in Colorado near Fort Collins, finally making Denver their permanent home.
Orville worked in Sales and Etta helped him in several of his jobs by delivering products and answering phones. Working for The Kirby Vacuum Company allowed them to partner with family and the chance to travel to places including: Hawaii, Mexico, South America, San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, Las Vegas and New Orleans.
Etta rededicated her life to Christ in 1968 and started witnessing to prisoners both locally and at the State Correctional Facility in Canon City, CO where one of her nephews resided.
Etta was an artist, and famous for her delicious cookies and creative birthday and wedding cakes.
Etta unfortunately suffered a massive stroke in August of 2004 never fully recovering. She lived her last days at Elms Haven Nursing home speaking only few sentences but seaming to recognize familiar people and songs.
Before Elms Haven Etta wrote some words to her children and grandchildren in a memoir. The primary theme was that Jesus was her Savior, her healer and the only reason she was able to return to her family in 1968. Secondly, that she wanted her children, family and everyone to have a personal relationship with Jesus. Finally she asked us to forgive her for failing us or letting us down.
Etta is survived by her (4) sons: Bruce, Brad, Bryan and Dana; (2) Daughters-in-Law: Connie (Lawrence) Delany and Connie (Carrubba) Delany; (1) Son-in-Law: Don Bonham; (2) Brothers: Herman and Robert; (3) Sisters: Esther Harter, Doris Steinke and Velma Zimbelman; (1) Brother-in-Law: Harry Steinke; (2) Sisters-in-Law: Donna and Carol; (10) Grandchildren: Brian, Krystal, Lace, Maia, Cody, Jesse, Simon, Rachel, Kirsten, Jamie; (1) Grandson-in-Law: Evan Wise; (2) Daughters-in-Law: Sondra (Smith) Delany and Jayme (Caro) Delany; (12) Great-Grandchildren: Kara, Brayden, Brooke, Jessie, Jake, Samantha, Tabitha, Sean, Jace, Carter, Emmett and Penelope; she also had 44 nieces and nephews all of which she prayed for and loved.
