Floyd was born in 1922 in Paris, Arkansas to Pearl and Omar Hopper. He served in the United States Air Force, during which time he met and married his lovely wife Edna Polifka in Hays, Kansas. They relocated to Denver ,Colorado where he worked at Gates Rubber Company. Looking for a new challenge, he moved to the US Postal Service as a mail handler and supervisor for his lifelong career. In his spare time, Floyd enjoyed his part time job as a barber.
Sports were an important part of Floyd’s life, both as a participant and as a fan. Golfing, bowling and softball brought him great joy with friends and family. He was the ultimate Denver Broncos fan, through good times and bad, as well as strong supporter of the Colorado Rockies.
Floyd and Edna had five children, Larry (Cathy), Ron (Rachel), Trese (Tom), Jeanie (Warren) and Sharon (Ken). Ten grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild brought so much joy to his life to the very end.
Travelling with family and friends, playing a competitive game of pinochle or rooting for his favorite greyhound at the dog track were some of the many activities that brought Floyd happiness.
