

James Leroy Clapper Jr. died peacefully at Broomfield Skilled Nursing on January 8th, 2015 in the presence of his family, at the age of 90. Jim is survived by his wife Beverly, sons, Craig (Betty), Mark (Bobbie) and Brian (Nancy) Clapper. Jim is also survived by siblings, Thelma, Lista, Clair, Paul & Patti, 8 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Jim was born on August 6th, 1924 in Duncansville, PA to James Sr and Thelma Clapper. James and Beverly wed on April, 1st 1945, and was happily married for 69 years. Jim attended school in Hollidaysburg, PA. In 1951 Jim moved his family to Denver and relocated to Broomfield in 1955. Jim was a route salesman for the majority of his working career. Jim is a lifetime member of the Broomfield Lions Club which he joined in 1957. That same year, Jim and Ed McCormick founded the city's first youth baseball program. Jim continued his dedication until 1997. Jim Clapper field was named in his honor at Broomfield Industrial Park. Visitation on Wednesday, January 14, from 4 - 8pm. Services on Thursday, January 15 at 1:30pm. Both at Olinger Mortuary in Thornton. A reception to follow at Olinger.
