Jim was born on September 25, 1940 in Denver, CO to John and Catherine. He graduated from Adams City High School in 1958. He married Lois Huerter, his long distance love who was living in Greeley, CO in 1964. In his early career, Jim served in the US Marine Core Reserves as well as working as a warehouseman for Safeway. In their early marriage, the crazy couple welcomed three children in three consecutive years, thus leading Jim to determine it was a good time to start his new career as an over the road truck driver. His children remember him as a jokester who encouraged them to not take life too seriously.
Jim was accomplished at maneuvering a semi truck and trailer and was away from home for days at a time. He was a witty individual who loved old western movies, camping in his RV with his wife and family and driving around the country singing along to his favorite music and books on tape.
