Joan E Christenson

Joan began her journey in New Delhi, India on October 25, 1936 to Lillian and Sam Tungate. She grew up in England where her and her siblings Audrey and John flourished. Joan often regaled her grandchildren of stories about playing with the boys and riding bicycles.

After leaving England to live in the United States, Joan frequently spoke of her affection for her cousin Janet and how much she missed her mother.

Joan married the love of her life on February 18, 1978 in Grand Junction, Colorado. Clifford Christenson loved her more than words can do justice. Together they built a lovely life with four amazing children: Steven, Tina, Jason, and Corey.

Over the years, Joan became an excellent gardener, an avid reader, and a passionate animal lover. Joan eagerly anticipated her weekly shopping trips with her beloved daughter Tina each week. She was always after that elusive deal.

Joan’s impeccable taste, vibrant personality, and unflinching resolve will be deeply missed. There has never been, nor will there ever be another wife, mother, or grandmother like Joan. When she spoke to you, you knew you were being seen.

Joan is survived by her husband Clifford, son Steven, daughter Tina (Michael), son Jason (Karen), son Corey (Christina), her sister Audrey (Leslie), brother John (June), grandchildren Stephanie, Adam, Kate, Melissa, Sean, Kaila, and Jake.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery. The funeral service will be on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery.

A reception to follow at Corey and Christina Atkins’ residence.
