John Andrews Sanchez of Thornton, Colorado passed away on December 16, 2021. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He had the love and respect of his family in its entirety; a self made man of virtue and strength. He was born on April 3, 1934 to Roger and Jesse Sanchez.
John spent over 22 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a First Sergeant specializing in Munitions Maintenance. He served three combat tours in Vietnam and was proud of his service to this country. He also spent 17 years at Miller Stockman Western Wear as a Dock Manager. He met and married Kay Sanchez in 1979 and they blended their families together.
John is survived by his wife, Kay Sanchez; Sister, Alice Gomez; Children Diana Broughton, John (Linda) Sanchez, Roger Sanchez, Marianne Burns, Brenda (Clark) Westby, Lisa (Brian) Calvey; Stepchildren, Guy Richardson, Julie (Andy) Wright, Forrest Richardson, Lisa (Ron) Underwood, and Linda (Jim) Engels, as well as 25 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Jesse; Sisters, Lena Meehan and Dora Smith, and 1 grandchild.
A committal service, with full military honors, will occur on Thursday, January 6, 2021 at 2:30 pm at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 4400 W. Kenyon Ave. Denver, CO 80236. In lieu of flowers, personal contributions can be made to Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) at the link provided below.
