

Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez, lovingly known as “Lupe,” passed away on February 16, 2026, at the age of 76. He was born on December 12, 1949, in Las Nieves, Durango, Mexico.
On April 15, 1971, Lupe married the love of his life, Rita Rodriguez (Baros) of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and hard work that spanned more than five decades.
Lupe was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Dolores (Lola) Rodriguez; his brother, Eliazar (Chal) Rodriguez; his beloved son, Reuben (Tato) Rodriguez; and his son-in-law, Victor Guerrero.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Rita Rodriguez; his son Jose (Raquel) Rodriguez Jr.; his daughters Crystal (Gabe) Ortiz and Olivia Rodriguez. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Manuel (Emily) Rodriguez, Orlando (Scott) Rodriguez, Lasiyas Vialpando, Desmond (Parker) Ortiz, Deuce Ortiz, Dede Ortiz, Amari and Emily Guerrero, Lucas Bustos Jr.; and his great-grandchildren Milo and Elena Rodriguez, and Peyton and Desmond Ortiz II. Lupe also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dogs, Junior and Lulu.
Lupe was a dedicated concrete finisher who began working in the trade as a teenager. He took immense pride in his craft and was known for the exceptional quality of his work. Over the years, he completed countless projects for family, friends, and members of the community. One of his greatest joys was working side by side with his son Tato until his passing in 2023; a bond that meant the world to him.
Beyond his strong work ethic, Lupe will be remembered for his beautiful singing voice. He loved singing traditional Spanish songs at family gatherings and faithfully sang “Las Mañanitas” to each family member on their birthday, a tradition that brought joy and warmth to everyone he loved. His sweet and caring demeanor left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was a man who was deeply respected, widely admired, and sincerely loved.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 6th at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Lupe’s legacy lives on in the love he gave, the family he cherished, and the memories that will forever be held close in the hearts of those who knew him.
