

Kevin Scott Jacovetta, age 61, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025 in Wheatridge, CO. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Julie, daughters Amber and Brittany, son in law Jaron Finn, and his three cherished grandsons: Ayden Schreiter, Jay Schreiter, and Kash Finn. He also leaves behind one brother, Kenneth Jacovetta, and two sisters, Karen Carroll-Jacovetta and Kathleen Jacovetta. Kevin was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Mary Elizabeth Jacovetta and Ronald Leroy Jacovetta.
A native of Arvada he was raised down the street from AFPD Station 5, he later became a dedicated engineer firefighter with Arvada Fire Protection District for over 33 years, Kevin served the fire department and his community with unwavering commitment and passion. Throughout his distinguished career, he held numerous roles including fire engineer, EMT, training instructor for triage, CPR, flashover unit, and extrication technician. He was instrumental in building brush 6 for Arvada and served as a lieutenant and captain during his volunteer days. Kevin bravely entered hundreds of burning buildings, the most life-changing experience occurred April 3, 2011, when he and his partner were severely burned in the line of duty. Receiving the Metal of Valor for performing an act above and beyond the normal call of duty under extreme personal risk, involving bravery, and a high degree of initiative and/or capability. Demonstrating immense courage and resilience, he returned to active service following his recovery.
Away from the firehouse, Kevin found joy and solace at his mountain property in Hartsel, Colorado—affectionately known as “God’s Country.” Whether working hard or playing hard, it was a place he treasured deeply. If he wasn’t in the mountains he was enjoying rides on his Harley, mountain rides, riding to Sturgis, usually with Julie riding along. Above all, Kevin loved his family fiercely and without hesitation. Known for his genuine kindness and warmth, he easily made a friend with anyone he met. Once you were part of his handshake and hug club, you had a friend for life—always ready to help, even giving the shirt off his back.
Kevin’s passions included spending Time with family, working on cars, building crafts with his wife, playing darts, and cheering loudly during football games. Wherever he was, he made it home.
Kevin’s friends and family are invited to celebrate his life on October 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Storyline Church, 14605 W. 64th Ave, Arvada, CO 80004.
He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
