With sadness we announce the death of Kimberley Ann Yochum. She passed into the loving arms of her savior, Jesus Christ, on Nov. 19th, 2025 at the age of 45 in Boulder, CO.
Kimberley was born on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1980, in Melbourne, Australia, to Terry and Inge Yochum. Named after the Kimberley Mountains of Western Australia, her arrival brought great joy to her parents and extended family around the world as the first born.
In 1983, Kimberley welcomed her younger brother, Philip, and shortly thereafter the family moved to Denver, Colorado. The following year she became the big sister again to Alicia. As a child, Kimberley enjoyed tap, jazz and ballet classes, competitions and spending time with her family.
At age 9, Kimberley was diagnosed with a rare mitochondrial disorder known as M.E.L.A.S. Doctors initially believed she might live only a few more years. Throughout her life she faced many health challenges, including seizures and periods of temporary blindness and hearing loss, and she spent significant time receiving medical care.
Despite these challenges, Kimberley was a sharp student as she was homeschooled, eventually graduating from Ranum High School with a 4.0 GPA. She went on to attend Front Range community college to further her studies.
Kimberley had many interests and passions that brought her joy. Kimberley adored children and always had a special connection with infants. She dreamed of becoming a neonatal nurse and caring for newborns, despite her health preventing her from pursuing that career. Kimberley took great interest in baking and loved helping her mom Inge in the making of many incredible German cakes and confections. She was an avid reader, filling shelves with hundreds of books from the classics to her favorite author, Danielle Steele. Kimberley had a love for artisan dolls and enjoyed collecting them.
Kimberley adored fashion and anything related to dressing up. She enjoyed putting together outfits, expressing herself through clothes, and embracing the fun and creativity of style. She loved looking through magazines, studying and reveling in the gowns women would wear on the red carpet and on the runway. This love also led Kimberley to participate in the creation and manufacturing of all of the costumes her siblings wore throughout their swing dance career.
Kimberley will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love for children, and the joy she found in the things she cherished.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her parents, Terry and the late Inge Yochum; her brother, Philip; her sister, Alicia and her husband Ryan; and many extended family members, friends, and caregivers whose lives were shaped by her being in them.
The celebration of her life will take place at 11 am on April 11th, 2026 at The Crossing Church in Westminster, CO. It will be immediately followed by reception of cakes and baked goods Kimberley loved.
