Lawrence (Larry) Nye passed away on December 7, 2022, suddenly at his residence in Henderson, Colorado. He was born September 23, 1958, in Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his daughter Alicia who he loved very much and who was misappropriated from him at the age of two, but who always remained in his conscious thoughts. He is also survived by his sisters, Cynthia Nye, Melody Carper, and his brother David Nye and several nieces, 1 nephew and several great nieces and nephews. Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Nye.
After attending Northglenn High School, Larry enlisted and served four years in the United States Marine Corp. He loved to ski until receiving a severe knee injury. Larry had a CDL license, wherein he drove commercial vehicles for a living until his tragic 3-story fall in 1987. At which time, Larry shattered both arms, both wrists and right elbow, leaving him disabled for the rest of his life. Despite Larry’s disabilities, he remained a hard worker, stayed athletic, was kind, respectful and was always giving of himself even when others did not reciprocate in kind. Larry’s kindness and generosity was not limited to just family and friends but extended to even helping complete strangers. Larry leaves behind loving family and friends who will miss him dearly.
In memory of Larry Nye, there will be a Celebration of Life to share memories by family and friends, at Olinger Highland Mortuary, located at 10201 Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229 on January 5, 2023, at 10:45 a.m. Refreshments will be served along with a taco bar lunch.
