

Leroy "Wolf" Montano, age 75, of Brighton, Colorado passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Platte Valley Medical Center. Leroy was born in Turkey Creek, Colorado on July 23, 1946 to Agapito & Claire (Vialpando) Montano. Leroy married Carol Ortega on September 25, 1971 in Walsenburg, Colorado.
Leroy proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969; earning several medals and awards: the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Communication, National Defense Service, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. Leroy worked as a baker for 30 years with the Safeway Bread Plant in Denver and he also worked as a delivery driver for the Denver Wholesale Florist for 15 years.
Leroy will be remembered as lively, upbeat, goofy, charismatic, honorable, selfless and giving. Even though, he was stubborn at times he was still a people person and loved making people laugh, he especially loved spending time with his family. Leroy loved watching the Denver Broncos and having a cold beer shared with family and friends. He loved everything to do with motorcycles.
Leroy is survived by his loving family: daughter Salena (Donavan) Vigil, grandchildren: Siera Blan, Elijah Montano, Zoe Montano, Melena Montano, Alexa Montano, Alissa Montano, DeMarco Vigil, Gianna Vigil, Christopher Montano, and Gicela Vigil; his siblings Raymond Montano, Gloria Vigil, Michael Sandoval, and Roberta Sandoval. Those loved ones preceding Leroy in death are: his wife Carol Ortega Trujillo, and 2 sons Troy & Randall Montano.
A visitation followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Monday, November 15, 2021 beginning at 5:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary's Heritage Hall located at 10201 Grant Street in Thornton, Colorado 80229. The Mass of Christian Burial will occur Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church located at 11385 Grant Drive in Northglenn, Colorado 80233.
A Committal Service with military honors, will take place the same day of the Mass at Fort Logan National Cemetery located at 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd. in Denver, Colorado 80235. The service is due to begin at 2:15 PM; family and guests are strongly encouraged to arrive at the cemetery by 2:00 PM. Everyone will enter the cemetery off of Sheridan Blvd. using the "Funeral Entrance", follow the appropriate signage to "Staging Area C", and wait in their vehicles until the procession is escorted to the service shelter.
