Leslie “Rock” Brewer beloved husband, father, brother, and friend passed away peacefully Oct 5, 2023 in Frederick, Colorado surrounded by family and friends. His story is one of a life well lived. He was born to Aileen and Riley Brewer on March 15, 1970.
Rock attended Denver Public Schools and graduated from South High School in 1988. He lettered in varsity soccer and made the all-state soccer team. After graduating high school, Rock attended Colorado State University. He met Stephanie Gasca, the love of his life, in 2001 while shopping for the firefighters’ league. He would make a beeline to ask her where items were located in the store. In turn, she would proceed to tell him the incorrect aisle so that he would come back to ask again. They wed on October 15, 2006. To their union, they have two children Robert and Alyssa Brewer-Gasca.
In 1998 Rock joined the Denver Fire Department doing what he loved, helping people and being a source of stability during crises. Being with the department also afforded him the opportunity to play as much golf as his heart desired. While with the department, he served most of his career at Denver International Airport.
True to his nickname Rock was a foundation and an inspiration to his family, his friends, and his community. He was a wealth of knowledge and could talk to anyone about any subject. Although he was the pillar of strength Rock taught others about compassion, kindness, understanding, and love. He had a strong belief in right and wrong and fought for those who couldn’t fight for themselves. Rock had an amazing sense of humor and with his crazy antics was always able to lift the spirits and hearts of others.
Like his older brothers, Rock was a gearhead who enjoyed cycling, riding and racing motorcycles, and riding in his restored 1939 Plymouth. He would spend long days and nights tinkering in the garage with his favorite sidekick, his bull terrier Vegas. She too was a meathead after his own heart.
He loved going to Disney World where he would enjoy a Micky churro, space mountain, and watching the kids get their limbs stuck in between the bars of all the fences. He did save the day for those kids who got stuck, but not without the occasional chuckle.
Rock loved spending time in the mountains, vacationing in Grand Lake, eating homemade ice cream at the local shops in Estes Park, and enjoying hiking at Beaver Brooke. He would often go with his family and friends to see the leaves change colors during the fall and loved taking time to breathe in the crisp mountain air and feel the sun warm his soul.
In addition to his parents, Rock was preceded in death by his brothers George and Moyo Love. He is survived by his wife Stephanie, his children Alyssa and Robert, his brother Greg (Beverly), his twin sister Miriam, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends.
