Lydia was born on October 18, 1933, in Sarcillo, Colorado, to Santiago and Julia Martinez. She married the love of her life, Chris Aguirre, on January 30, 1954, in Denver, where they made their home and raised their family. Lydia spent her entire life in Denver, building a legacy of love, laughter, and warmth.
Lydia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose gentle spirit touched everyone she met. She loved spending time camping with her family and tending to her flowers — simple joys that brought her happiness. Known for her sweet, kind, and funny nature, Lydia had a special way of making others feel loved, always ending conversations with her trademark phrase, “I love you more.”
She is survived by her husband, Chris Aguirre; her children Mike Aguirre, Paul Aguirre, Julie Aguirre, Alan Aguirre, and daughter-in-law Josie Aguirre; and her grandchildren Christopher, Dylan, and Matthew. She also leaves behind her sister Arlene Valverde, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lydia was preceded in death by her siblings Daisy, Leo, John, Ana Mae, Odelia, Jim, Joe, and Debbie.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
