Born on June 20, 1961, in Boulder, Colorado, Lydia grew up in Louisville as the youngest of seven children to Simon and Rose Garcia. Her childhood in a bustling, loving household shaped her generous spirit and deep devotion to family. And taught her that even though she was small in stature she could be mighty and tenacious.
While visiting one of her sisters in Alaska, Lydia met the love of her life, George Todt of New Oxford, Pennsylvania. They married in 1979 in Louisville, surrounded by family and friends, beginning a partnership marked by unwavering support, humor, and shared purpose. Together they built their home in Broomfield, where they raised their three children: Simon, Hope, and Gregory.
Lydia worked for many years as both a bank teller and later as a cashier and team lead at Walmart. She was also deeply involved in the Boy Scouts of America, where her steady guidance and kindness touched many lives. Outside of work and volunteering, Lydia found joy in crocheting, sewing, and countless crafting hobbies—creative outlets that she often used to make heartfelt gifts for those she loved.
Above all, Lydia’s greatest pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Zane and Karianna, who brought light and laughter into her life. She cherished every moment spent with them.
Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Rose Garcia, her brother Damon Garcia, and her sister Adrienne Koon.
She is survived by her husband George; her children Simon (Merri), Hope (Jeremy Larson), and Gregory; her beloved grandchildren Zane Todt and Karianna Larson; and her siblings Dolores Ferguson, George Garcia, Mildred Pierce, and Paul Garcia.
A celebration of Lydia’s life will be held later in the spring, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the love she shared so freely.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society at https://www.cancer.org/.
