

Marian Calhoun beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, & Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully February 15, 2022, in Northglenn, CO. She was born September 19, 1926, on the farm near Lanark, IL to the late Earl and Esther (Davis) Derrer.
Growing up on the farm with her brother Carson and sister Bernice they attended the Lanark school system, and the family was very active in the First Brethren Church in Lanark. After graduating in 1944 Marian met her first husband Jim Miller through their church activities and were married in April of 1945. She became a mother to her only child Barbara in 1946. She was a stay-at-home mom until the mid-1950’s when she started working at the local A&P grocery store. After Jim purchased the Ford dealership she started working there as the bookkeeper. They divorced in 1960 and Marian and Barb moved to Freeport where she worked for a brokerage firm.
After moving to Freeport, she met John Lewandowski and they were married in June of 1962. John worked for the W T Raleigh Co and was transferred to Denver in 1962. In Denver Marian worked for Western Federal Savings and Loan as a financial counselor. When John changed companies in 1966, he was transferred to Fargo, ND with Schlitz Brewing Co. Marian continued working in finance. John passed away unexpectedly in December of 1969 and Marian moved back to Denver at that time. She then went back to work at Western Federal Savings.
In 1970 she met and fell in love with Jim Calhoun, and they were married in January 1971. This union gave her an adult stepdaughter Yvonna Lynn Borzillo. They were happy and in 1975 decided to move to Jim’s hometown of Carlsbad, NM. She then went to work in the collection department of Guadalupe Medical Center. She retired from the medical center in 1991. In retirement she enjoyed gardening, reading, walking her dog’s, participating in church activities, and time with friends and family.
Jim became ill and Marian was his caregiver until his passing on Dec. 23, 2015. She continued to live in their home in Carlsbad until giving into her family and moving back to Denver in July of 2019. Marian’s family made sure she had lots of fun adventures once she got moved and were happy to have her living with them.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Esther Derrer, brother Carson and Ardis Derrer, and brother-in-law Llyod Martin. She is survived by her sister Bernice Martin, daughter Barbara Miller Schmitz (Robert), and stepdaughter Yvonna Lynn Borzillo (Gary). Grandchildren Robert Schmitz (Betha), Rebecca Schmitz, Marianne Young (Tyler), Jason Snograss, Nicholas Borzillo, and Gabrielle Borzillo. Great grandchildren Joseph Schmitz, Jaclyn, Tanner, and Even Young, Jason Jr., Madelyn, and Carter Snograss. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
