Matthew "Matt" J. Leahy

Age 50, died suddenly on August 8, 2025. Matthew was born on April 23, 1975 in Atlanta, GA. Matt is loved and missed by his father, Joe Leahy and his Stepmom, Anne Leahy of Pinehurst, NC. Matt’s mother, Terrie Savarese-Guite and his Stepfather, Jeff Guite of Stuart, FL and his sisters, Emily Bowers of Raleigh, NC and Hannah Leahy of Boston, MA. Matt is also missed by the love of his life, his soulmate, Kristina McKnight of Northglenn, CO. Matthew leaves his many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and beautiful nephew and niece Chase and Ellie Bowers. Also, Matt will be missed by his many great friends and colleagues.

Matthew grew up in Huntington, LI, NY and moved to Madison, NJ in 1991. He graduated from Madison High School and played Varsity lacrosse- he was a gifted player and leading scorer.

Matt was an avid Mets and Jets fan and followed them through all their good years and not so good years- his devotion never waivered.

Matt moved to Boulder, CO in 2018. Matt honed his cooking skills and went from Sous Chef to Chef at The Post, Lafayette and had an integral part in opening a new restaurant in Denver, The Corsica Wine Bar. It’s been said that Chef Matt was a valued member of their team and that his presence made a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with him.

Everyone who knew Matt loved Matt. Matt was kind, loving, sensitive, loyal to a fault, a mentor and the best friend you could ever ask for. Matt even still has several high school friends who he considered brothers. There will be a large void in our hearts for a very, very long time. Matt, you are so loved and the best son we could ever dream of.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in remembrance of Matthew.
