Patricia Reynoso, born August 10th, 1943, in Matatlán, Jalisco, Mexico, was called home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 25th, 2023. She was preceded in death by her children Gerardo and Katherine Mejia, her parents Jose Reynoso and Luz Valadez, her husband Hector Guerrero Mejia, her grandson Bobby Bravo and great-granddaughter Leila Sifuentes, and her siblings Rogelio Reynoso Valadez, Maria de Jesus Reynoso Valadez, Maria Elena Reynoso, and Concha Figueroa. She is survived by her daughters Lourdes Temores, Araceli Hernandez, Grace Sifuentes, Myrna Baltazar, and Patricia Mejia, her siblings Rita Lamas, Porfirio (Pillo) Reynoso, Jose Luis Reynoso, and Miguel Angel Reynoso, her 13 grandchildren, her 35 great-grandchildren, and much more family.
The 4th-born child of Jose and Luz, she was born in an adobe house in Matatlán. Before her family moved to the city of Guadalajara, she worked on the family farm milking cows and helped raise her siblings. She never received an education past the third grade, but that did not stop her from teaching herself to read and write in both Spanish and English. She made the move to the United States at age 23. Eventually, she and her husband moved to Baldwin Park, California to raise their 5 daughters. She ran multiple businesses with her husband, including their own upholstery supply store. A true warrior, she survived rheumatic fever as a child, which ultimately was the source of her heart condition and had beaten terminal breast cancer by age 34 while raising her young daughters. She lived in California for nearly 30 years before she made the move to Colorado, where she planted deep roots in her community. She also survived a double bypass open heart surgery at age 57, exemplifying her warrior spirit.
Patricia is remembered as the matriarch of her family. She constantly had love and affection to share, which is incredible when you consider the size of her family. She had an uncanny ability to make every person she interacted with feel special. She enjoyed volunteering at her church Nueva Vision AC, where she became a community pillar. She was a faithful servant. She loved Jesus, her children and grand-children. She couldn’t stand to know there was an empty stomach around her, and would do anything in her power to make sure everyone was fed, physically and spiritually. She was grateful to be supported by so many family members as she began to regain her independence. Her family is at peace knowing that she is exactly where she is meant to be: in Heaven, with Jesus, and surrounded by loved ones.
