Rodrigo Mendez Galindo, age 74, was born to Maria Elvira Galindo Calvillo and Juan Antonio Mendez Varela. He was born in Durango Mexico and lived in a small town known as General Ignacio Zaragoza. He came to the US in August 1969 and shortly after married the love of his life Virginia Elizabeth Mandonado on May 16, 1970. He worked for many years of his childhood and adolescent years on the family farm in Durango. When he arrived to the US he worked multiple jobs to provide for his family. Later, he began what became a 45 year career in the construction industry where he worked his way from a laborer to a superintendent. When he was not working he enjoyed going to the gym, the horse races, the beach and making yearly trips to his home town, but most of all spending time with his family!
He is survived by his loving wife Nancy (preferred name), daughter María Isabel Mendez and son Rodrigo Mendez Jr. husband to Megan Mendez. He had 6 grandchildren - Brittany Hernandez, wife of Ernesto Talamantes. Alexis Hernandez, Alina Hernandez, Julian Mendez, Noah Mendez and Mila Mendez. He had 3 great-grandchildren, Emilio Talamantes, Alfonso Talamantes and Eliana Talamantes.
He is also survived by 4 brothers - Alvaro Mendez, Efren Mendez, Juan Antonio Mendez, Miguel Mendez, and 4 sisters - Graciela Mendez, Elvira Mendez, Olivia Mendez and Martha Mendez.
He also had numerous nieces and nephews, many loved ones and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents María Elvira Galindo Calvillo and Juan Antonio Méndez Varela. Also by his siblings who passed as infants - Dagoberto Mendez, Rodrigo Mendez and Martha Mendez.
Services being held in honor of Rodrigo are a visitation beginning at 4:00PM followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary service beginning at 6:00pm, on April 19, 2023. The funeral service followed by the committal service will take place Thursday, April 20, 2023 starting at 1:00 PM. All services are taking place at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, located at 10201 Grant St, in Thornton, Colorado 80229.
