Roswitha (Rose) Tierney, 74, beloved wife, mom, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023, at her home in Thornton, Colorado. She will be remembered as a happy, kind, and generous woman whose laugh was infectious and had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor.
Rose was born on February 8, 1949, in Radstadt, Austria to the late Barbara Gullitch. She resided in Austria with her sister Edith and her Grandmother (Barbara Goschl) as a young girl, until she and her sister moved to be with her mother in El, Paso Texas at the age 12. In 1967, she met her future husband, Francis (Frank) J. Tierney, serving in the US Army at Ft. Bliss. In 1968 they married and in 1970 moved to Frank’s hometown in Michigan, where they went on to have two wonderful daughters.
In 1976, Frank and Rose moved to Colorado, where she was a homemaker, and office manager at a small wood products company. After her girls were raised and the passing of her husband, Rose enjoyed traveling, throughout Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia, as well as places in North America. Rose enjoyed many activities as well as volunteered within her community. She had a passion for decorating her home for every holiday and enjoyed gardening.
Rose is survived by family that includes her loving daughters, Krista (Sean) Cuney of Hudson, Colorado; Jennifer (Mark) Tierney-Hammer, Thornton, Colorado; Grandchildren (Courtney, Caden, Keegan), Sister, Edith (Harry) Taylor, Niece Kathryn (Bronson) Perry, Nephew Josh (Amy) Taylor, Great Nephews (Oscar and Edgar) and Great Niece (Caterpillar).
Relatives and friends are invited to funeral service for Roswitha to be held Monday, March 27, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229.
Following the funeral service, Rose will be reunited with her late husband at a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 1:20 PM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO 80236.
