Sammy Kay Hastings (Sam) passed away peacefully April 14, in Fruita, Co. Sam was born and raised in Denver to Max and Lula Mae (Johnson) Hastings. Sam lived the majority of his life in Colorado, raising his family and working in the construction industry. After owning and operating his own drywall company in Colorado, Sam and his two sons moved to Las Vegas in the late 80’s where they continued to operate their drywall company. Sam enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing, occasional travel and working with his hands, he was a very good craftsman. Sam is survived by his three children, Jody (Carpenter) Hastings, Carrie (McFarland) Hastings and husband Rick McFarland, Keith Hastings, sister Debra (McClain) Hastings and preceded in death by his son Dean Hastings. Sam had seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and was loved by many. “Resting Forever”. In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of your choice.
Funeral Service will be 1:30 PM Friday, May 15, 2026 at Olinger Highland Mortuary, Honor East Chapel, 10201 Grant Street Thornton, CO. Interment at Olinger Highland Cemetery.
Reception will be held immediately following the graveside service at Olinger Highland Honor East Chapel.
