We miss the visits and conversations. You are definitely not forgotten in our lives. Along with God, we know that you are watching over all your loved ones.

You are missed and certainly not forgotten. Your visits and occasional phone calls usually centered around sports of which you had tons of knowledge. 

Later today, “The Rocky Mountain Showdown “ football game will be played. If you were still with us, you’d be in the midst of the expected extra large attendance. 

Your Alma Mater  vs  My Alma Mater!  Always a great rivalry. Should be an exciting game.

"VIP" ... It's been a month since you left us. The shock of losing you was great. I was at a loss for words and did not write however, many memories run thru my mind. I needed advice on brother Tommy lately, I reached for the phone to call you, to my chagrin  I felt an unbearable Void realizing you're  gone.  I'll never forget you sweet brother. I'll remain  praying for your soul daily.

My sincerest condolences to my Herrera family... the love for our family that has past, is forever etched our hearts... My uncle Steve was quite the gentleman and scholar, he was never at a loss for words of wisdom and compassion, he was a devout christian and this shined throughout his life.

Steve grew up with my dad in Trinidad and remained friends over the years!! Steve and his family are truly good people.

     To my Uncle Steve, his family and friends.  For me, there are almost no words to explain how I feel.  I sit in your house and all around your home, I feel your presence and love. Your house is not just a house, you made it a home with Aunt Virg. Your friends, neighbors and family have gathered in honor of you and the life and legacies you've created.  
     Today, I sat in the passenger side of Aunt Virg’s car, next to me on the armrest, I could see your sealed toothpicks... Boom! Another thought of  you.  Naturally, I smiled as I looked at the toothpick stash.  I decided to open one and place it between my lips and teeth.  It appears, since you’re passing, my life has been filled with toothpicks showing up.  
     I see how your children and grandkids know you were world’s best dad, grandpa and GG.  Since I've been in your home, the doors have been revolving with an abundance of plants, flowers, food and love for you.  I'm sure you are looking down and smiling.
      When I was a little girl, you'd always talk to me. You were the first to tell me that I would kind of be a big sister to Gina. You knelt to my eye level and held my hands.  I recently saw how you talked to Calaya,  just like you did to me.  
     Our Dear Lord definitely had a purpose for you.  You’ve done your job to perfection and now you can rest and educate all the angels your are amongst.  I am am a better person to have known you.  I can actually play a decent game of pool, I can read books better to children and like you,  I  WILL continue to be patient and listen to the children.  In a few hours, I’m supposed to say "Goodbye" to you.  As of now, I think I’ll say “See ya soon”.  
     Thank you for Uncle Steve!  We are all blessed to have had you in our lives.  You came. You conquered all our hearts.

In your own quiet, conservative and humble manner, you accomplished and/or participated in many things during your lifetime. Family life, education,sports,
politics and countless other activities were always in your sight(s). Your ability to set goals, whether big or small, became a natural doing and the results benefited an uncountable number of lives. You gave of yourself to help individuals of all ages and walks of life. Your love in teaching and coaching children and adolescents was remarkable. Utmost, your love for family and friends was/is appreciated to this day.

Growing up together in Trinidad, we knew many people. We would reminisce about many things, good and bad. I will miss the breakfasts and lunches we had. Steve, I will always remember your good advice.  I always enjoyed our conversations about sports and politics. You were always up for a challenge. You will be truly missed! Steve was a very kind and sweet man. My husband and I met him when Gina & Christopher got married. Christopher is our nephew. We have seen him and Virginia at different family gatherings. He will be truly missed!! We are truly sorry , and your all in our prayers!!

I’m blessed to have been part of my uncle Steve’s life. He was a true uncle to me, always listening, providing feedback, joking around and my lotto buddy every time I was in Denver.  He was a sincere person that loved my wife and kids always talking about soccer, teaching and ancestry research. I’m thankful to have been part of his life and I know we will meet again. Heaven has gained a beautiful person. Rest is peace my uncle, until we meet again. Love your nephew Patrick Dasis and family.
