Victoria Lee Moore, known by most as Vicki, of Thornton Colorado, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in Aurora Colorado while hospitalized at Anschutz Hospital at age 80. Vicki was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May 12, 1944, to the late Douglas Clarence and Betty (Perry) Moore.
She graduated from the University of Minnesota and was a member of the Alpha Rho Chapter of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She worked as a Social Worker in Fairfax, California, after graduating from college in the 1960s. She later moved back to Minnesota to work at the State of Minnesota. In 1984, She began attending the UCLA Master’s program in screen writing, and then worked at HBO Pictures in Los Angeles, California. She returned to Minnesota in 1990 to care for her father Douglas.
Upon returning to Minneapolis Minnesota, she worked for the Minnesota Film Society. She then worked at Hennepin County as a Social Worker and was eventually elected to be the Vice President of her AFSCME Local.
She was always interested in discussing how to solve the world’s problems. She was instrumental in lobbying for a $10 million federal appropriation for the construction of a north-south connector in Minneapolis, known today as the Van White Memorial Bridge. She also dedicated many years to the community input process for the Southwest LRT line and redevelopment discussions in the Harrison neighborhood.
Family and friends were extremely important in her life and if she was not able to see someone in person she would text or call them. Sometimes this involved her excitement or disappointment with how the Minnesota Vikings played. Watching football was a regular activity of hers to do with her family. She also was a proud owner of many cats and dogs throughout the years and sadly said goodbye to her beloved dog Sam in September of 2023. Vicki was dedicated to political activism throughout her adult life and remained engaged in following the news of politics until her last day.
Vicki is survived by her son Olin Thomas Douglas Moore, her two grandchildren Mac and Ellie, and Eli, her 18-year-old canine companion.
