Survived by her sister Michelle, her son Richard, her daughter Samantha, and her grandkids Connor, Cecelia and Ambyr. She was preceded in death by her mother Joyce and her father Hugh. Yavonne joined her parents on January 3rd, 2026. Many know her as Yavonne, but her greatest title was Baboo; the name her grandson gave her after his mom read him The Great Pumkin one to many times while stating this is from grandma. Her entire world revolved around family whether by blood or by choice. Her greatest accomplishment was watching her two children grow into themselves and follow their dreams. She had a huge heart and loved so big to all. If someone needed something she would do whatever she could to help. She was mom to so many more than just the kids she birthed, and she loved them just as much as her own kids. Her passions always ran free from her precious moments, to her sundancers, to her windchimes, to her knitting and crocheting, and most of all to sunflowers. Yavonne was passionate about so much in life; she always made sure you knew if she loved you. She knew who she was and she was loved for that. Her house always had an open-door policy for anyone who needed her; she was there. She did warn everyone to call first just to make sure she had pants on. Was she a bit judgy at times? Yes, but only when it was deserved. She had fierce wit and a gentle motherly touch. When you were sad, she hugged and soothed you because she genuinely hated seeing people she loved to suffer. She was sarcastic and quick to tell you when you weren’t making the best choices, but it was never in a hurtful way. Her favorite place growing up was Minnesota, where she met her best friend for life Joanne. Family vacations back home to Minnesota were never complete without a stop or a stay with Joanne. Her dad's job moved them around a lot when her and her sister were children. So, she may have been born in San Diego, raised mostly in Colorado, but Minnesota was home to her, where she felt the most at peace and where she loved to go back. When anyone asked her where she was from, she would instantly respond with Minnesota. The two best days of her life were 2/13/89 when she had her son and 5/23/93 when she had her daughter. The next best days of her life were 10/12/14 when her grandson was born, 9/26/16 when her granddaughter was born and 6/13/25 when she officially gained her eldest granddaughter. There will never be another Yavonne like her, but most of all there will never be another Baboo. She is greatly missed by all of those who loved her. If you feel like you need to honor her name by sending flowers, we ask that you instead make a donation in her name to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
