

Charlotte was born in Malta, Montana the only child to J.C and Katie (Burke) Anderson on September 10, 1921. The family moved to Portland in 1925 after a plague drastically impacted their cattle ranch, Charlotte graduated from Grant High School in 1937. She attended Oregon State College (GO BEAVS!) where she joined Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and met Taylor C. (Bob) White. They married in 1943.
As a war-bride, she and Bob transferred to many places in the military and were blessed with nine years of marriage and had a son, John, in 1948. As an Oregon Air National Guardsman, Bob died in a plane crash protecting the country.
Our Saviors Lutheran Church’s pastor William Gentz ministered to Charlotte and son John and that became their church home.
Charlotte met W.L. (Jack) Havens and they married in 1953 and Scott was born in 1954. They enjoyed 35 years of marriage until Jack died in 1989.
Charlotte loved raising her two sons and later grand children and great grand children. She loved jazz music, the beach, tennis, golf, gardening and playing competitive bridge. Charlotte was president of the Assistance League of Portland, the Lake Oswego Garden Club, and served in her church for many years.
A celebration of life will be at 2 pm on Saturday, Feb 1 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church 15751 Quarry Rd, Lake Oswego. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either the Assistance League of Portland, or Open Arms International.
