

David Allen Janzen, of Lake Oswego, Oregon, passed away at 75 years of age on September 18, 2021. He was born on August 14, 1946 to Margaret Anne Whitley and Anthony Jaworowski in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
While just a child, David’s family moved to Pomona, California where he graduated from Ganesha High School in 1964. In school, he ran cross-country and track and was awarded “Strider of the Year” on multiple occasions. In 1966, he was drafted by the US Army and was chosen to train as a Green Beret Special Forces Medic at Fort Riley, Kansas; this training was the forerunner for today’s Physician Assistant Programs. David then served in Vietnam from 1967-1968. After his honorable service in Vietnam, he returned to California and attended Shasta College from 1968-1970 and then attended UC Davis where he worked on a Master’s Degree in Old English. He was married for a short time to Peggy Lynn Janzen and together in 1973, they had a son they named Michael David.
An accomplished poet and artist, David began his career at UC Davis in 1973 as a medical illustrator with the UC Davis Medical Illustration Department before advancing to the position of Staff Research Associate in Electrophysiology Cardiac Research. In 1991, he left UC Davis after accepting a position in Lake Oswego, Oregon at a pacemaker company called Biotronik. In 1994 David started his own pacemaker follow-up clinic and retired in 2013.
David met his wife Ann Marie in 1978 and married two years later. Together, they enjoyed playing soccer and tennis, coaching soccer and spending quality time with friends and family.
David loved watching Grand Slam Tennis Championship matches and any soccer games that were shown on television, including those that were broadcasted in Spanish.
David is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ann Marie Janzen, his son Michael David Janzen, his daughter in law Yelena Yevgenyevna Janzen, his grandson Giovanni Michael Janzen, his granddaughter Malina Michele Janzen, his sister Patricia Munger, his brother Wayne Jaworowski as well as many other loving family members and friends.
There will be two Celebrations of Life held in his honor, the first to take place on Saturday, November 13th at 1:00pm at Christ Church Episcopal Parish located at 1060 Chandler Road in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The second Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 27th at 2:00pm at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church located at 178 Clinton Street in Redwood City, California.
