Donald Morris Fiser

Sept. 4, 1940 - April 20, 2025

Donald Fiser was born in Olympia, Washington to James Morris Fiser and Dorothy Nelson Fiser. Don died peacefully Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Don was loving, friendly and compassionate with family, friends and everyone he met. He was a natural born leader through school, college, his career and volunteer work. He was the student body president at Olympia High School, ran all state in track (440), and played football. While he received his Bachelor’s degree at the University Of Washington, he was president of Beta Theta Phi fraternity. He then went to Reed College for his Master’s degree in teaching.

He taught History at Jefferson High School, was at the start of street schools in Portland, Oregon and Portland Community College ,where he was then hired by Amo DeBernardis to help create new programs. Don had many roles in his career at PCC from dean to vice president up until his retirement.

As a retiree, he spent countless hours volunteering at Fish Emergency Service, Store to Door, NorthWest Medical teams and his favorite place, Sun-shine Division. In 2008, Don received the Light A Fire volunteer award.

He loved running, walking, watching DVD concerts, reading, ice cream, chatting with neighbors, traveling and adventures with family and friends.

Donald is survived by his brother Ken, his son Mark, his loving wife Sharon, stepdaughter Janelle and her family husband Philippe, their children Alexia, Olivia and Thomas Lavaud, granddaughter Jessica Abejero, stepson Loren, his wife Teri their son Alec and his wife Shelby Parr, stepson Wesley, his wife Gita, grandchildren Kannon and Olliana Parr.

We have beautiful memories of our life with our Don. Don always had a heart for others and he was supportive of Doctors without Borders, Medical Teams International, Blanchet House in Portland and Portland Rescue Mission if you choose to donate in his honor.
