

Gertrude Grace Russell, 92, of King City, Oregon, passed away on May 6, 2013 in King City. The youngest of five children, she was born on August 28, 1920 in Banks, Oregon to Perry and Catherine Miller. The family soon moved to Dundee, Oregon. Gertrude began school there graduating from Dundee High School where one of her highlights was attending the dedication of Timberline Lodge by President Franklin Roosevelt. Soon after graduation, she married Delton Russell. They first lived in Yamhill, Oregon but soon moved to McMinnville, Oregon where they had a small farm. They later moved to a new house next door. They had two children, Patricia (Pat) and Richard (Dick). She was a wonderful mother, always ready to listen and support her children in their activities. She was also active in the First Methodist Church along with Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She also loved going fishing with Delton and camping with the family. Gertrude’s husband Delton died in December, 1959. A new chapter began in her life. Gertrude first worked in the First National Bank of McMinnville. Then she moved to the coast and was the owner of the “D” Lake club. After several years, she sold the club, passed her real estate exam and began selling real estate. She moved to King City in 1975 and continued selling real estate until she was eighty. While living in King City, Gertrude enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She traveled to England, Denmark, Sweden and Germany. She also spent a month in Bangkok with her daughter and son-in-law. Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband Delton and her three sisters, Mary Norberg, Clara Nelson, Donna McConnell and one brother, Frank Miller. She is survived by her two children, Patricia Black (Russell) and husband Jared and also by Richard Russell and wife Kay, five grandchildren, Carrie (Scott) Patterson, Spencer (Mayuree) Black, Nicole (Eric) Larke, Matthew (Bonnie) Russell, Sara (Jonas) Smith and six great grandchildren, Conner and Zack Larke, Sarisa and John Delton Black, Layton Patterson and Devin Russell. Private family services will be held.
