an extraordinary life
Woman
Margie grew up in a small country home with her parents and two sisters she adored. She often spoke of the small one room schoolhouse she attended, her memories of her childhood in the local Stafford area and the folklore of the Borland family history. She was a woman of strong faith, always prayerful and exemplified the meaning of service to her God, church and community. She lived her life so well that she never had any enemies and had very few conflicts. She was one of the most generous souls to have ever walked this earth. Her affable manor and humor always lifted others up. She did not seek recognition or praise. Her fulfillment came from the simple joys of life, sharing a warm smile or a gentle hug. Her humility was a shining example for all, a reminder that true greatness lies not in grand gestures, but in the kindness and compassion we show others.
Wife
In 1943, Margie married Alfred Beaudoin. They began their life together in San Diego where Al served in the military. Following their time there, they settled back in the Portland area. They bought a small home in SW Portland, but had to remodel it numerous times to accommodate their ever-expanding family. Together they served both their church and the NW Steelheaders for many decades. They were married for just over 50 years when Al died in 1994.
Mother
Together, Margie and Al raised nine children. She embodied the very definition of motherhood. Her gentle spirit and selfless nature were the hallmarks of her character. Always wanting the best for her own children, as well as the many others she cared for over the years. Margie worked tirelessly, both inside and outside the home, to provide for her family. Her home always served as a sanctuary for many and a gathering place for all. She created a haven of love and acceptance. It was the place where stories were shared and memories were made.
Grandmother
Margie was a Grandmother of 18, Great Grandmother of 19 and Great-Great Grandmother of 2. Few things brought her more joy than to hold a tiny new baby or watch the older children play. Her devotion to them all knew no bounds. She sent every one of them birthday, holiday and special cards throughout their lives. Her epic collection of photos captured heartfelt moments and created a treasure trove of cherished memories for us all.
Friend
Margie was a dear friend to so many throughout her life. She provided prayer, meals, a listening ear, counsel, compassionate care or even a place to stay. Whatever was needed was graciously given and always without judgement. She often visited aging friends to bring fellowship, companionship or communion. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of all those whose lives she touched.
Farewell
May her legacy inspire us to cherish one another, to love unconditionally and to find solace in our faith. Let us all celebrate the extraordinary life of this remarkable woman knowing that her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were privileged enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that her time on this earth was a gift to us all. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Komak Foundation.
