Mick "Milferd" Eugene Gray

Mick was born in Washington County, Kansas in 1936, his family moved to Newberg, Oregon when he was only 7 months old. He spent his entire life in Oregon and proudly considered himself a true Oregonian. He graduated from Newberg High School in 1954 and from 1959-61 he honorably served in the United States Army. Upon returning from the Army he met and married Mary George in 1962, with which he had two daughters, Kathy Gray and Lanelle Gray Stiba.

In 1976 he followed his dreams and established Gray's Automotive in Tigard, Oregon. From there he worked hard on his goals and established a reputation for building the best High Performance racing engines in the Portland area. He was well- respected and liked among his peers... and Gray's Automotive was not just a job, but a major part of his social life. Almost every Saturday night you could find him at the races, helping and encouraging his clients and friends. He will be sorely missed among the racing community, as he was truly one of a kind!

On April 30, 1982 he married his loving wife, Joyce. They had 28 wonderful years together. Some of their most memorable times were spent boating on the Columbia River with their friends, and family. In his spare time he enjoyed going trap shooting, and every hunting season he would be so excited about getting his scooter and truck ready for the next "Big" hunt. His annual Montana trip was always one of his highlights of the year. Mick died at his home September 20, 2010 in the company of his wife, after a struggle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Joyce Gray, daughters Kathy Gray, Lanelle (Clayton) Gary Stiba, and his two grandchildren Katie and Thomas.

A celebration of life is being held Sunday October 17, 2010 from 2:00-8:00pm at the Holiday Inn Wilsonville.
