Neelu Sarkar(Saha) passed way at her home in Beaverton, Oregon at 3:40 PM on June 11th 2013 after a 2 year long courageous battle with cancer. She was born to Pushpa Rani Sarkar and Late Ajay Sarkar on May 21, 1975 and was the younger of the two daughters. She was the beloved wife of Arnab Saha and a proud mother of 2 beautiful children - 6 years old daughter Malika and 17 year old son Mrityunjay(Jay).
Neelu touched the heart and soul of every individual she met in her short journey. Neelu's open heart and warm personality attracted everyone towards her. She could make instant connections with people and make them friends forever. She was the best daughter, mother, wife and sister - the nucleus of the family. She gave her all to her family and loved them much more than herself. Her loss will leave a void that can never be felt.
She had tremendous inner strength and determination that is rare to see. Loosing her father in her early childhood brought a lot of difficult financial conditions that she had to face along with the rest of the family which prevented her from having a normal childhood. Without receiving any prior education in English, Neelu after immigrating to America took on ESL classes in the evenings to start getting basic English education so she could communicate with everyone. She had always dreamed of completing her education which she could not pursue as a child and once she heard about GED it was the second chance she wanted. She did home schooling and part time evening practice classes in the local community center to earn her GED in 2008. It was a tremendous achievement considering someone who had only a few years of schooling and no prior exposure to English. She joined the Aveda Institute in Portland to be a cosmetologist and she was very good at it although she couldn't complete the 600 of the 2300 hours remaining to get a license in Oregon. She faced everything in life with all her strength and dedication and never faltered.
Neelu will be dearly missed by family and friends. Please join us in remembering Neelu at her residence 9945 SW Halite Ct, Beaverton, OR 97007 at 3 PM on Sunday, June 23rd.
