

His childhood was spent in Omaha where he graduated from Creighton Prep followed by Creighton University. He then attended Creighton University School of Dentistry, graduating in 1947.
After dental school, Sebastian entered the Army and interned at Percy Jones General Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan. In 1954 he became a Resident Prosthodontist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
In 1956 Sebastian became Chief of Prosthodontic Service at United States Army Hospital in West Point, N.Y. He continued as Chief of Prosthodontic Service first at the 45th Field Hospital in Vicenza, Italy, then Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco and finally at Tripler General Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1970 he was named Deputy for Army Dental Activities. He retired from the Army in 1972 with the rank of Colonel, having earned several medals and awards.
In 1974 Sebastian was appointed Associate Professor, Department of Prosthodontic, at the University of Oregon Dental School. In 1975 he was promoted to full Professorship and Chairman of the Department of Removable Prosthodontics. He retired from OHSU School of Dentistry in 1993, having earned numerous Certificates of Award as Outstanding Professor and for outstanding Clinical Department. During his years in the Army and at OHSU, Sebastian was a regular guest lecturer at the Dental School and Dental Associations around the country.
Sebastian fell in love with and married DeLora Lee Safley in 1946. He was a devoted family man and is survived by his three children - Ronald J. Campagna, Regina R. Campagna Haney and Mary Jo Wells. DeLora Lee passed away on December 14, 1993 after 47 years of marriage.
Gold was a passion for Sebastian for much of his life. While in the Army he was on The Board of Governors of Presidio Army Golf Club and later on the Board of Governors of The Hawaii Army Gold Association. Upon moving to Portland he joined Portland Golf Club and was a member for over 25 years. Since retiring in La Quinta, California he has been a member of Santa Rosa Country Club. There he met Anine Rohrer and lovingly shared his life with her, including plenty of golf, for the past seven years.
Sebastian's memorial service will be held at 11:45 am on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Young's Funeral Home in Tigard, Oregon followed by military burial service at Willamette National Cemetery at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to The American Cancer Society.
