

Verna Katherine Peterson (Wolf) passed quietly away early on Sunday morning, July 16, 2017. She was preceded in death her younger sister, Dorothy Dillman by only a few months. She was born Jan. 16, 1924 in Portland, Oregon to George, and Katherine Wolf (Spady). Verna is survived by two children; Nancy Harsch (Peterson) and Douglas George Peterson, as well as five grandchildren; Robert Harsch, Matthew Harsch, Daniel Harsch, Benjamin Peterson, and Andrew Peterson as well as six great-grandchildren.
She grew up in Portland, Oregon, graduating from Jefferson High School. She then attended Oregon State University in 1943, where she met her future husband, William Douglas Peterson. After the War, they were married on November 17, 1945. Verna enjoyed golf, and was an officer of the Oregon Womens’ Golfing Association. She also enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, and volunteering at the Albertina Kerr Center, preparing meals. William preceded her, passing away 12-25-2010.
