I have just known Helen for 20 short years, ever since I married her grandson Tim. We visited their home in Santa Maria for the first Christmas together and she was so welcoming. I was not a great cook, going through college I ate a lot of quick cheap meals and so I attempted something way beyond my scope of culinary skills to bring to their home. Needless to say it tasted horrible but Helen saved me by saying that she liked it. She was so gracious. She was funny too, Once we brought her a box of chocolates for her birthday. She was in the nursing home by this time and her thought processes were failing, but she made us all laugh. She ate a chocolate and then started to place the other chocolates on her shirt like the were decorations. Silly things like that made her special and the people at the nursing home enjoyed her too, you could tell. Another funny "thing" that 
Tillman and Helen would do is plan a weekly burger king run, with an envelope of coins $1.67 that they saved during the week. The burger king employees probably got a kick out of them and their envelope, surely missed. I make sure that I appreciate my senior patients and I try to talk to them and find out about them because someday I will miss them too. Helen left a Legacy with her stories, great cooking, and quick quips of humor, and large heart. I am fortunate to have known her because she touched everyone she met and made them better.

Mama, you are gone but your memories will live with me for ever.

We have such special memories of this special lady.  She loved to make us laugh with her entertaining stories, especially of tricking her parents into thinking she had done the dishes when they were actually hidden around the kitchen.  Then there was the time at that bridal shower when she commented on the lacy lingerie, "all you need it for is to put on the bedpost in case of fire."  What a character!!  She also exemplified a Christ-like servant with her big heart, many talents, and generous spirit.  What a legacy she has left for her family!  What precious memories she has left for the rest of us.  Looking forward to seeing you again, Helen.

In memory of my sweet Grandmother who made the world such a better place with her laugh, smile, wink, and generous heart.
 Being her only grandchildren, my brother and I were pretty spoiled growing up going to their house to spend summers.  We had the best dinners, played hours of Skip-Bo and Uno,and chased their cat Fluffy around the yard. In the evenings they would get out the slide shows of their trips, and they were always so proud to show pictures of us and recall treasured memories as we were growing up.
 When we were older, and eventually married with families of our own, we took many trips to Santa Maria to see my Grandmother and Grandad.  Their house was always warm and inviting, beautifully landscaped, and decorated. We were always greated with smiles, warm hugs, and a great slice of pie.
 Good-byes were always hard with both my Grandparents standing on the corner waiving both hands at us, eventually my Grandad would start waiving sideways until we were out of sight, then we all would feel a little sad and lonely till we could be together again.  I see Grandmother with Grandad now on heaven's shores waiving at us.  I know we'll all be together there someday when there will be no more sadness or goodbyes...I love you so much!

I have fond memories of aunt Helen and uncle Tillman especially those times when the Cornelius clan would get together.  Aunt Helen left me with a lasting legacy when she saw me shortly after my birth and said; "Oh look at those little feet, they look like skunk's feet".  So, thereafter, I was called skunk's foot.

I expect that Helen is now in the presence of our Lord and creator, singing songs of praise.  I hope all who loved her will eventually join her there.

Helen had the most distinctive voice... and just the best "ha" of a laugh. I will never forget her quips, and that great laugh.  Her cooking skills were legendary, and her hospitality, the warmest. I'll remember her always with the fondest affection, and a wry grin like the one she always had for me. Love you, Helen. Hug Tillman for me.  We'll all see you again one day. What a day that will be.

In loving memory of my grandmother.  I have so many fond memories of visiting her and my Grandad as a child, the way they would spoil my sister and me when we spent time at their house in the summer.  The camping trips with them on the California coast were especially fun.  She was always so concerned about our happiness and comfort when we visited, making sure we were very well fed - she was known for her cooking, and just having a servant's heart toward us.  Those qualities have stuck with me through the years.

Farewell Grandmother.  I know you are in a wonderful place now with Grandad, and all the health troubles of the past years are a distant memory, as you are beginning your new and eternal life in heaven.
