Amador was the beloved husband of Encarnación Cambra, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. He was a loving father to Amador A. Cambra, Jr., Beatriz P. Cambra, Miguel S. Cambra and his wife Renae, and a cherished grandfather to Seth Cambra and Adrián Cambra, who brought him immense pride and joy.
He was the dear brother of Manolo Cambra Rocha and the late María “Maruja” Nieto, and will also be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, warmth, and quiet strength.
Amador Cambra, a humble craftsman, and a man deeply rooted in the land of his birth, has gone home to the Lord. Born in As Neves, Galicia, near the banks of the beloved Río Miño, Amador carried the spirit of his homeland with him wherever life led him. He was a hard-working man, shaped by stone, soil, and tradition - the kind of man who believed in the dignity of labor and the quiet beauty of simple things.
Amador’s rugged, talented hands will be remembered most of all. They were the hands of a worker, but also of an artist and a musician. With patience and care, he transformed gourds, woven plant fibers, and pieces of wood into beautiful works of art. He loved the natural world that inspired him, the birds that visited his yard, the flowers that brightened the earth, and the materials the land offered him. In many ways, his art was a conversation with nature, a reflection of the Galicia he carried in his heart.
Amador also had a gift for music. He often played the harmonica, filling the air with simple melodies that carried the feeling of old villages and open fields. And with the same creativity he brought to his crafts, he could even play music using a simple leaf holding it carefully between his lips and letting it sing. Those small performances brought smiles and laughter, turning ordinary moments into memories his family will always cherish.
He also carried the soul of a poet. His words spoke of longing for home, for the Rías Baixas, for the flowing waters of the Río Miño, and for the people of the land he loved. His poetry remembered the journey of emigrants those who left the stone villages of Galicia to work and build lives far away yet never stopped belonging to the place where their roots began.
When Amador’s time on earth came to its gentle close, it is comforting to imagine that heaven opened quietly for him.
As his breathing slowed, the veil between this world and the next grew thin. In the stillness, angels came softly, as they are promised to the faithful. They lifted him with tenderness, the way one might lift a tired traveler at the end of a long road. The weight of years of labor fell away from him, replaced by peace and light.
Guided upward, Amador was carried into a place of warmth and familiar love. Waiting for him were the faces he had missed for so long: his mother, father, and sister standing together as if no time had passed at all. Their reunion was gentle and joyful, like returning home after a long journey across the sea.
In that moment, Amador was not leaving the world he loved; he was completing the circle of it.
Perhaps somewhere in heaven there are hills that resemble the green slopes of Galicia, flowers that bloom like those he tended, and birds that sing as they do along the Miño. And perhaps Amador is there now, walking peacefully among them, his hands still shaping beauty, his music drifting through the air, a harmonica melody or the soft whistle of a leaf carried on the breeze.
His life reminds us of the strength of those who leave their homeland, the beauty of creating with one’s hands, and the enduring love of family both here and waiting for us beyond.
May he rest in the eternal peace of Christ, reunited with those who went before him, and may the angels who carried him home watch over all who loved him.
Descansa en paz, Amador.
Your river has carried you home.
