

Charles E. Clifton passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, at the age of 99. He was the beloved husband of Mercedes Anne Clifton, for 73 years; loving father of Paula Callo, Charles Clifton, Suzanne Fording, Kathi Bishop, Judy Schuele, Mark Clifton, John Clifton, Matthew Clifton, Robert Clifton and the late Rachel Marie Clifton. Charles was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Charles was a man of deep faith and service, dedicating much of his life to volunteering with several esteemed organizations. He was an active member of The Explorers, a group committed to fostering personal development and community service among young men. He also contributed his time and expertise to the Cylburn Men's Gardening Club, where he shared his passion for horticulture and mentored others in cultivating beautiful gardens. His involvement with the Baltimore County Historical Society reflected his love for history and preservation, as he worked to maintain and share the rich heritage of the area. Additionally, Charles was a dedicated volunteer with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore, offering assistance and compassion to those in need. His legacy is one of unwavering commitment to family, faith, and community, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Charles’ life will be celebrated at the St. Joseph Church, 101 Church Lane, Cockeysville, Maryland 21030 on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 11 AM.
Interment to follow at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
