

On January 31, 2026, Clarence John “Butch” Butler passed away. Butch was born June 15, 1939, in Silver Run, MD, the son of Tellie Butler and Hazel (Ingram) Butler. He was the second youngest of five children. Raised in Ashland, MD, he attended Towson High School, graduating in 1959. He served in the United States Army from 1962 until 1964, stationed in Georgia at Fort Benning and Fort Stewart. He was introduced to his future wife and the love of his life, Barbara Pittinger by his cousin and Barbara’s best friend Patsy Ingram. They were married on April 4, 1962. After being honorably discharged from the army, he settled with his family in Phoenix, MD.
He was gifted at building furniture from an early age, fabricating many beautiful pieces for his loved ones. Skilled in construction, he single-handedly remodeled his family’s home and oversaw and helped others in building and remodeling their homes. He enjoyed reading, spending time with his family, and watching his beloved Baltimore Orioles and Ravens on television.
Butch is the devoted husband of the late Barbara Butler. He is survived by his children, Stacey Dresner and her husband, Ron, of West Hartford, Conn. and Robin Scannell and her husband Dean, of Perry Hall, MD; three granddaughters, Gabrielle Remillard and her husband Alex, Hayley Dresner and Ashley Scannell; a sister, Jean Kraus and her husband, Pat, of Fallston, MD; two brothers-in-law, Scott Pittinger and his wife, Robin, and Randy Pittinger, all of Hanover, PA, and two sisters-in-law, Betty Butler of North Carolina, and Donna Pittinger of Hanover, PA; 15 nieces and nephews and their spouses and children; and many cousins and other relatives. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Butler and Homer Butler; a sister, Mary Streett; and his parents-in-law Paul and Gladys Pittinger.
The family will receive friends at Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm where funeral services will be celebrated at 12:00pm.
Interment, Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
