David and I met c. 1985 through the Baltimore County Christian Workcamp. He was one of the “founding fathers” of BCCW as he was on the planning group for BCCW which was first held in 1984.  Since then, until his stroke, he faithfully attended virtually all the planning meetings, attended (and ate at) all the meals (breakfasts and dinners) during the BCCW week each year, coordinated evening activities, and chaperoned the youth sleep-overs. He would assist where needed, e.g., helping clean-up after the breakfasts and taking out the trash. I became secretary in ’86; he even was the acting secretary on occasion to take minutes.  He brought his father to many of the dinners, plus he seemingly enjoyed being the carpool driver for some of the farther away evening dinners. Occasionally, he would work at a site, normally painting or cleaning-up. David was dedicated to BCCW and was an integral part of its success since 1984; his active presence was missed after his stroke. Even then, he kept informed with reading our emails and would always ask about BCCW whenever we talked. (In addition, his mother had helped many years with breakfasts in the early years; later, his father delivered popsicles to the work crews.) The 41st BCCW was in 2024.
Everyone who knew David knew that he was known for his gift of gab; he seemingly could talk and joke with anyone whom he met. Easy going was his modus operandi.
To me, one of the most remarkable (and enviable) things about David was his memory: people’s names and who did what when. When I was recently compiling BCCW’s history, I would contact him to see what he could remember. 
While he was at Oak Crest, I would call him to see how he was doing; he seemed to be content. He never really complained. We would discuss all sorts of topics, including OC meals, OC recycling, life at OC, his niece, and even occasionally politics. 
During almost every call, David would make this comment about his situation: “It is what it is.” 
David will be missed!

What a wonderful and unique man!  An unbelievable memory for facts.  Always a smile and a joke.
I met David in1972 at the beginning of my years as a bus driver.  As we both moved into the ‘office’ at Greenwood I was privileged to work with David in ‘Special Ed ‘ continuing through his time as Area Manager.
To this day, when my special friends, now retired from Transportation, get together we invariably reminisce about David and the many fun adventures we’ve had.
What an addition he is in heaven,  God will smile!

Dave was my former building mate in Mays Chapel Village in Timonium,  MD.    His condo was above mine and on the other side. Though Dave did not live in his condo for quite a few years while he lived with his now late father he lived in our building for some time after I bought my unit.  He was always very pleasant and got along with everyone in the community.   I felt so sad that he had his stroke when he was very close to retiring as it had to have been SO devastating not to be able to enjoy his golden years after working for so long.   We will miss you, Dave.  The world is a better place for your years on this earth.

Fair winds and following seas.  A truly kind and caring soul with a great sense of humor.  You will truly be missed by all those that were fortunate to call you a friend.
