David Lee Schroeder

David Lee Schroeder, age 78, of Baltimore, Maryland passed away March 31, 2021 surrounded by his four children. David was the son of the late Norman and Edith Armstrong Schroeder of Baltimore and was preceded in death by his loving and compassionate wife, Leslie.

David, grew up in the Greater Towson area of Ridgeleigh with his older brother, Norman Donald or "Don" and younger sister, Dianne or “Dee.” As a tenacious adolescent, David was a NRA junior marksman and managed his own newspaper route. David was later a graduate of Towson Senior High, class of 1961.

After high school, David (Dave) went on to work as a teller for Baltimore Federal Savings and Loan Association, then on to the accounting department of Bendix Corporation in Towson. He later joined Humble Oil’s Regional Office in Towson (which became part of the Exxon Mobil Corporation) where he served as a financial analyst. While working at Exxon, he attended night school at University of Baltimore and served as a Business Manager for UB’s Student Press Newspaper (which won National Collegiate recognition). David’s dedication paid off and he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dave’s 30+ year career as a financial and business analyst for Exxon Corporation brought him from Maryland to Texas and then back to the East Coast in northern New Jersey. Throughout his career with Exxon, Dave (member of the NAPM of New Jersey) was recognized by various Planning & Leadership, Quality Improvement and Purchasing organizations. Later, he would be acknowledged and rewarded with Exxon’s prestigious “Golden Tiger Award” for his years of excellence and dedication.

In 1971, David married the love of his life, Leslie Bienert. Throughout their 32 years of marriage, Dave and Leslie had many wonderful adventures with their four children. Dave enjoyed traveling, watching his children’s activities, and spending time with cherished family and friends.

Among his many interests were playing card games with his family, especially Rummy 500, chess with his father and brother Don, shooting pool, back deck discussions with his sister Dee, cruising the Caribbean islands and enjoying family time in Ocean City and the surrounding Delaware Beaches. Later in life, Dave enjoyed shooting, safekeeping photography, walks with his dog and talking Investments & Politics to those who would listen. He would often say, “Fight for term limits and new perspectives.”

David leaves behind four children- Marc, Eric, Deanna, and Jennifer and nine grandchildren- Avery, Ariella, Caeden, Benjamin, Nolan, Dylan, Lily, Grady, and Colin. David also leaves his son-in-law Dan Velez, daughter-in-laws Heather and Michelle, and future son-in-law Corey Butler.

Due to COVID-19, funeral services will be private. David will be laid to rest next to his late wife, Leslie at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
