Elizabeth "Betty" Hill

Betty had a soul deeply rooted in nature. She found peace among the flowers she carefully tended in her vibrant summer garden, joy in the songs of birds that visited her yard, and a deep connection to the rhythms of the earth. Whether walking barefoot in the sand or watching the waves roll in, the beach was her sacred retreat. Summer days filled with family, the smell of salt air, and the taste of Maryland crabs and crabcakes were among her happiest times.

A true dog lover, Betty welcomed every pup with open arms, treating them with the same warmth and care she gave to those closest to her. Her home was a place of comfort and laughter, where everyone—from family to neighbors to old friends—felt loved and accepted.

A devout Catholic, Betty’s faith was central to her life. She lived with compassion, grace, and unwavering trust in God, and she passed on her strong spiritual values to those she held dear.

She also had a fun-loving spirit and delighted in life’s little pleasures—especially a well-made chocolate martini shared in good company.

Betty is the wife of the late John “Jack “Hill; beloved Cousin of Judith Mattey and Carmina Price ; devoted companion of Rick Gurley and his son Mark Gurley; sister-in-law of Suzanne, Peter and Tom; dear friend of Raymond Chester and Chuck Wise. Betty is survived family members, neighbors, and dear friends who will always cherish her memory. Her strength, her laughter, and her beautiful heart will be missed beyond measure.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21093 on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 in The Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier, 13717 Cuba Road, Hunt Valley, Maryland 21030.

Interment will be private

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to SPCA, Defenders of Animal Rights, or Helping Up Mission. These are causes close to Betty’s heart.
