

Elizabeth John, known to her loved ones as Lizy, was born on May 25, 1955 in Mavelikara, Kerala, India. Born to the late John and Mariamma Abraham, she was the sixth oldest with four brothers and five sisters. After completing her school education at M.S.S. High School Mavelikara, Lizy attended Pampa College in Parumala, Mannar. She then graduated with a degree in nursing from Punjab University, Chandigarh. Upon completion of her degree, she began teaching at the School of Nursing in Trivandrum.
She married John V. John (Johny) from Thiruvalla, Kerala on January 6, 1985. Shortly after they were blessed with a son, Lijo. After moving to the United States in 1988, they settled in Baltimore, MD and were blessed again with their daughter, Liny. Working as a Registered Nurse in the U.S., Lizy spent the majority of her career providing excellent care at Good Samaritan Hospital on their medical/surgical unit with oncology patients.
Lizy was known for her infectious smile and her unconditional love for her family and friends. She was a woman of strong faith and was a member of St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church of Baltimore for over 30 years. Her greatest quality was her self-sacrificing character and desire to help others. She had a generous heart and always gave without expecting anything in return. She has made a positive impact on the lives of many and her legacy will continue to live on.
Lizy passed away on July 26th, 2019, surrounded by her family, after a long fight for ten years with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis that included two lung transplants. She is survived by her husband John V. John, son Lijo John, daughter Liny John, her sisters Vimala, Kochumol, Sarla, Mini, and Jasmine, her brothers Jolly, Vijayan, Prasad, and Dayal, and her nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Lizy leaves behind a lifetime of memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. While we mourn her passing and will miss her dearly, we rejoice that she is now resting in peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
