Carol was the greatest and nicest person I had ever known when I was a teenager in Maryland from 1979 to 1983.  She and her mom, Treva, and dad, Eugene, treated me just like family.  And what a great family. And I could never beat Kelly Topper at Yahtzee. lol. My memories of hanging out at the Kienle house with Kelly and Nicole are some of my fondest childhood memories. God Bless you all, and Carol, I am always grateful for your kindness and happiness you brought in to my life.

May angels guide her to paradise and wrap her family in the wings of God's loving comfort. It has been a long time since she was my headnurse on 5North MGH, but I miss her like it was yesterday. So sorry to hear that she has gone too soon (L.EdgeMGH class1975)

her. Carol was my "Little Sis" in nsg school. I met her and her family the
summer before she entered, and instant-
ly felt that I had known them forever.
I loved being her "Big Sis". Carol was
so much fun, but there were serious mo-
ments too as we moved through that year
and she will always be an integral part
of my memories of my senior year of
school. When Carol graduated in 1969,
she chose to work on the unit where I
was head nurse (4West, later to 4North)
and became a vital part of my staff-
knowledgeable, caring, dependable, hard
working, and flexible with her hours.
She was everything a nurse manager 
needs to provide high quality care to
our patients. The fact that she was my
"Little Sis" made working together even
better. Through the years, I always en-
joyed running into Carol at MGH; she
would keep me up-to-date on the happen-
ings around the hospital, and I would
remember all the good times we had many
years before. I will miss her and re-
member her always with love and grati- 
tude to have known her. She was the 
best "Little Sis" I could have had.

To the Gooch family. I was blessed with the privilege of working with Carol at MGH many years ago. She was my team leader on 5N. She was a great mentor, excellent nurse and a wonderful person. I will always treasure my memories of her.. I pray that God will comfort you and that you will hold on to your memories always remembering the love ( and humor) she brought your lives.

To the Gooch Family, I was a co- worker of CAROL'S for some odd 20 yrs. There was no other like her, she was so genuine and caring in her own right. I lost my sister on May 15, 2011, we were like twins, inseperable. I need not say how m uch I miss her. So I can only imagine your pain. But, we know that CAROL and my sister Jackie are in a better place, and in charge where they are. They will be sorely missed by all whose lives they both touched. Dear Gooch Family, my deepest sympathy for all of you during this sad occasion. I want you all to know how much and how many lives @ Maryland General she touched. I've been @ the hospital for 20 yrs. now and when I was in Nursing school, she was a great encourager and later when I dropped out,a great motivator. My Deepest sympathy to Carol and her family- I had to pleasure to work with her at MGH. Carol had such a contagious laugh and always kept us on our toes with her knowledge of the things going on throughout the hospital. Everyone knew her walking the halls at work with her IV basket, and we as MGH graduates knew the nursing skill to take on any job handed to us! Carol loved her family and we always shared stories about our children as they grew up.

I have known Carol since 1971 when she was Carol Topper and the Clinical Manager of 5N. I was only 16 and was cross as trained as a unit secretary before graduating from nursing school.  Thirty-seven years later, we held a great bond between us.  She was always cheerful and made you laugh.  I will miss her.
