On June 23, 2020 Evelyn M. Brown (nee Marinacci); beloved wife of 70 years to Robert J. “Bill” Brown, Sr.; loving mother of Robert J. Brown, Jr. (Kitty), Stephen Clark Brown, Susan P. D’Ambrosio (Marcellino), Martha Brown Lindenkohl (Scott) and David J. Brown (Amy). Also lovingly survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Marinacci was born in Philadelphia. Both of her parents were born in Italy. Her father passed away when she was young, and her widowed mother raised Evelyn, her older brother Anthony, and her younger sister Phyllis in an Italian neighborhood in South Philly. In 1949, she went on a blind date with her future husband Bill Brown. Two years later they moved to Baltimore, and through the fifties and sixties, raised their family of five children. After that, they joyfully celebrated the blessed arrival of eleven grandchildren, and then four great grandchildren. Evelyn’s life was dramatically anchored at the harbor of her children and grandchildren.

Evelyn loved to cook, sew, dance, and play tennis. She enjoyed square-dancing and played golf and bridge. She was an accomplished seamstress and was always making quilts for others. She served as secretary and treasurer of the Hunt Valley Women's Club. Evelyn and her family joined St Joseph's parish in Texas, Maryland in 1965 when they moved to Cockeysville. At St. Joe's she served in a unique clown ministry. For decades, she and Bill enjoyed many beautiful friendships with a group of faith-filled couples. Evelyn’s smile spoke eloquently, and her compassion touched so many lives. She will be missed dearly

My favorite memory of Evelyn was actually my first encounter with her. I traveled from Texas to meet my wife’s side of the family up in Baltimore for a weekend while I was in undergraduate school. It was a big weekend for my wife and I’s relationship as I accepted the invite for a family Thanksgiving meal. Cristina gave me quick briefings of every individual on her side family during our flight so I was well prepared for conversion with the entire family. I made it to warm home with lots of happy people. As I was exchanging greetings with my future grandparents, I made a comment on their overall general health. I stated, “Wow, you all certainly don’t show your age for being in your 80’s. What kind of physical activity do you do to keep so healthy?.” Without hesitation, she looked at Bill, and said, “Well, we make a lot of love”. The pause felt like 1 minute, but was more like half a second. My grandfather in-law’s face turned bright red and quickly a roar of laughter consumed the room. Evelyn knew how to have a good time, laugh, and be present with those around her. She started that weekend out with a bang and made the rest of the weekend a memory I wouldn’t forget. I will see you on the other side. Love, Alex.

One of my favorite memories of Mommom is one time her and Poppop came to visit Dallas and we all went to an outdoor salsa dancing festival. We all went pretty hard dancing and about an hour in needed to take a break and Mommom was STILL going. I love how she was always one of the first ones on the dance floor and had a true joie du vivre that couldn’t be quenched. She was such a peaceful joyful person that really enjoyed the small moments. I was so grateful to know her and love her. All my love, Augusta

My fondest memories of growing up we’re the ones we spent at ‘The Browns’. All those Thanksgivings together, the kids playing on the stairs, the grown ups sitting around the dining room table. The smell of turkey coming from the kitchen. We had so much fun, I never wanted to leave. Then we lost Dad and Grandmom. They were the glue that held our families together. As the years passed, we may have grown apart and lost touch but you were all in my heart, always and forever. Rest In Peace, Aunt Evelyn. I love you 💕 OOOXXX
