

Joan Annaleigh Romeo, the unwavering backbone of her family, passed away peacefully at her home on January 8, 2026. Joan was a devoted mother to her four children, including the late Veronica Garrish and her husband Wayne. She is survived by Patricia Romeo, Richard A. Romeo, Jr. and his wife Suzanne, and Christina Romeo and her partner Dawn Brotzman. She was the cherished grandmother of Angela Martinez and her husband Julian, Olivia Brannick and her husband Brendan, Emily Abel and her husband Bryan, Richard Romeo III, Elizabeth Romeo, Catharine Romeo, and Obiora Romeo. She was the adoring great-grandmother of Owen Brannick, Teagan Abel, Eva Brannick, Kaden Martinez, Emerson Abel, and Blake Abel. She was also a dear sister to Karen and the late Ilaha, Patricia, Roger, and Paula.
Joan was a woman of remarkable strength, resilience, and heart, devoting her life to the people she loved so deeply, leaving behind a legacy defined by service, loyalty, and fierce devotion. As a former Marine Corps wife, Joan embodied the strength and independence required of military families. She was the steady force at home, ensuring her family thrived no matter where life or duty took them. Her dedication to her children and community was unmatched, and she proudly served as a PTA President, always stepping forward to lead, support, and uplift those around her.
Joan was a familiar and friendly face at Martin State Airport, where she worked for many years. In addition, she was a caterer throughout her life, generously sharing her talents and sense of service. Outside of work, she enjoyed watching sports—especially cheering on the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens.
Above all else, Joan’s greatest love was her family. As the matriarch, she was their strongest advocate and most steadfast supporter. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the true lights of her life—no matter the circumstance, seeing them could instantly brighten her day and bring a smile to her face.
Joan will be remembered as a very strong woman—one who held everything together with grace, determination, and an unwavering love for her own.
The family will receive friends at the LEMMON FUNERAL HOME OF DULANEY VALLEY, INC., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road), Timonium, MD 21093 on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Joan’s life will celebrated at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 13 , 2026 at 11:00am. Interment Highview Memorial Gardens.
