Joan Willett Passed away at the age of 87 on February 12, 2019 surround by her loving family. Joan was a loving daughter to the late Elton & Katherine Willett, longtime residents of Towson MD. Beloved mother of Pamela Failing of Ellicott City, MD & Jennifer Lord of Sargent, TX; cherished grandmother of Tucker Failing, Christopher and Jessica Raeke and great grandmother to newborn Hailey Failing. She is predeceased by her husband Warren McKeever.
Joan graduated from Towson High School in 1951. She worked and retired from Mercantile Bank, first working in Towson and later in their Parkville branch. She was part of the Charlestown Retirement Community for the past 14 years, previously living in Timonium and Parkville, as well as several years in Palm Coast FL. Joan was a talented crafter, doing beautiful needlepoint, cross stitch and crewel work. She was also an accomplished seamstress and did alterations for hundreds of Charlestown residents. On Saturday nights, you would find her distributing bingo cards at the weekly event and hoping her cards were lucky. She was an avid card player, playing with friends several times a week. Always industrious, Joan worked every Charlestown Treasurer’s Sale as a cashier and handled the collection of donations by residents in between sales.
Joan was a beloved Mom, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a friend to everyone and always willing to lend a hand to help others. She will be greatly missed.
